Local shifting

A move within the same city, usually done inside a day — with one crew from start to finish rather than a handover halfway through.

Short distance, same care

A local move is tempting to treat casually — it is only across town, so why wrap anything? That is precisely why local moves produce most of the breakages we hear about.

Distance is not what damages goods. Handling is: the lift, the stairs, the carry to the vehicle, and the loading. All of those happen in full on a two-kilometre move, so we pack and load a local shift the same way we would an intercity one.

What does change is the schedule. Most local moves are completed in a single day, which means one crew sees the job through from the first carton to the last piece of furniture rebuilt.

Included as standard

  • Same-day completion for most flats up to 3 BHK
  • One crew from start to finish
  • Vehicle sized to the inventory, so you are not paying for empty space
  • Early starts to fit society shifting hours
  • Furniture dismantled and rebuilt in place
Local specifics

The things that actually delay a local move

None of them are the drive.

Society timing restrictions

Many buildings only permit shifting between fixed hours, and some bar it entirely at weekends. We check this at survey, because a crew that cannot start until 10am and must stop at 6pm changes the whole plan.

Lift size and availability

A lift that will not take a mattress or a tall wardrobe turns part of the load into a stair carry. Knowing that in advance means sending the right number of people rather than discovering it at 8am.

Where the vehicle can stop

In older areas the truck often cannot reach the door. A fifty-metre carry each way adds real time, and it is better priced into the quote than argued about on the day.

Gate passes and security

Gated societies often need a pass arranged in advance for the vehicle and the crew. We will tell you what to request; getting it after the truck has arrived wastes an hour.

What changes the price

  1. Volume

It decides the vehicle and the crew size — the two biggest lines on a local quote.

  2. Floor and lift

Ground floor to ground floor with lift access at both ends is the cheapest local move there is.

  3. How much we pack

On a short route, packing only the kitchen and breakables is often the sensible middle ground.

Questions we get asked

Can you do it in one day?

For most flats up to 3 BHK, yes — provided we can start early and the building allows it. Larger homes, or a fourth floor without a lift at either end, are more comfortable across two days. We will tell you honestly at survey which one yours is.

Do I need to pack anything myself?

No, but packing your own clothes, books and linen is the easiest way to reduce a local quote, and those are the items least likely to be damaged in the process.

Can you move at short notice?

Often yes for local work, since no long-distance vehicle has to be committed. Ask — if a crew is free we will say so, and if not we will tell you rather than overbooking the day.

Moving across town?

Send both addresses and the floor numbers and we will quote it.
